Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii)

This shrub, native to Madagascar, is a thorny sprawling plant that can grow to 3 feet with a 3 feet spread. The shrub is also known as the Christ Plant or Christ Thorn since many believe it was used to make the Crown of Thorns worn by Jesus during his crucifixion. It is both drought and salt tolerant making it a wonderful low maintenance landscape plant. The shrub prefers full sun but can handle partial shade, and its small flowers bloom year-round in southern Florida.
